The star has donated the complete sum of his £25k award winnings to the trust for venues, which operates to preserve the UK's small concert spaces.

He was given the cheque on mid-October as his latest record the album was named the outstanding release of the previous year.

He has decided to hand the money over to the trust, in appreciation of the essential function local spots had in his beginning days.

"I wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the performances I performed around the area, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," stated Fender. "These locations are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these venues have shut down – roughly 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, top acts like Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the trust in its initiatives to support the industry, by applying a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which goes to help local stages.

Sam Fender also participated, collecting more than £100,000 on his live tour to help numerous local spots across the UK.

The donation helped venues that were confronting potential shutdown due to difficulties stemming from flooding, blazes and bereavements, as well as permit problems, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Some locations received financial assistance in upgrading amenities and gear that directly benefitted performers and concertgoers.

"The idea that funds from concerts in big venues backs the smaller venues, where it begins for artists like me, is just logical," the star has stated.

He is not the first artist to contribute his honor funds to worthy causes.

Back when the band won the trophy in the year 1996 for their record the album, lead singer the singer announced that the group would contribute their winnings to the organization War Child.

During 2002, musician Ms Dynamite split her award between several charities, including the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"And I donated a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked updated gear," she shared with outlets.

Previously, the band donated their funds to the youth organization that developed their act, as well as other local music groups.

Additionally 1994 winners M People gave their prize to a MS organization after a close contact was identified with the illness.

"The victory was ample," stated singer Heather Small. "The money was the cherry on top but we could do without the extra, because we had the main prize. So our victory affected somebody else's life."

Last week, the MVT shared it had saved two small stages in south-east England, by bringing them into public stewardship.

One venue in that area and the second in that location were acquired under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is funded by the arts council and enthusiasts who buy "ownership units" in the properties.
